Carpin - Casais Wood & Metal is deeply committed to implementing and upholding its values of accountability. The Company complies with, enforces and promotes:
- the applicable legislation in terms of the rights and obligations relating to fundamental labour requirements
- compliance with occupational health, hygiene and safety standards
- the banning of child labour
- the elimination of any form of forced or compulsory labour
- the guarantee of non-discrimination in terms of employment or occupation
- the respect for the freedom of trade unions and the workers' recognised right to collective bargaining.
Our procurement policy is endorsed by the Company's highest level of management. Carpin - Casais Wood & Metal commits and undertakes by all means not to source, trade, or supply timber, wood or wood fibre that falls into any of the following categories:
- Illegally harvested timber
- Timber harvested in violation of traditional and civil rights
- Timber harvested from forests in which high conservation values are threatened by forest management activities
- Timber harvested from forests undergoing conversion to plantations or non-forest land use
- Timber originating from forests in which genetically modified trees have been planted.
- Timber, wood or wood fibre produced in violation of any of the ILO Core Conventions as defined in the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work, 1998, as amended in 2022.
